Our Story
A century of winemaking. Zero signs of slowing down.
We’ve been in the wine game since 1895 — before hashtags, before influencers, and long before anyone put “organic” on a label just to charge more.
It started when a Frenchman named René Lavau landed in Tunisia and built a wine trading business that became Les Héritiers René Lavau. His family grew into Tunisia’s biggest producers and négociants, adding bottling to the mix and creating the now-iconic Koudiat label.
In 1985, the torch passed to a group of entrepreneurs under the SICOB banner, determined to keep a century-old tradition alive — but without getting stuck in the past. Our roots run even deeper, back to Carthaginian times, when Tunisia was already making wine worth fighting wars over.
Our vineyards stretch across legendary regions like Utique, blessed with a sunny Mediterranean microclimate. Some grow on rocky hillsides, giving our wines character, fruit, and finesse. Others flourish in rich, alluvial valleys, delivering supple, velvety textures and deep color.
We blend these distinct personalities in our cellars to create balanced, unforgettable wines.
Our rosés? Mostly Cinsault, Carignan, and Grenache Gris — grapes that also form the backbone of our reds, boosted by Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Our whites? Grenache Blanc, Muscat de Kélibia, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay — each one a little piece of Tunisia in a glass.
Celliers de Montfleury — heritage in the soil, rebellion in the bottle.
